Singapore-based telco Circles announced a joint venture with fellow telco e& International, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, to roll out digital telcos in the latter’s markets.
The first digital telco will be launched in the “near future” to support mobile network operators in the Middle East. The joint venture will be led by CEO John McEvoy, who has previously taken leadership positions at e& and Virgin Mobile.
The deal marks Circles’ penetration into its 14th market and debut in the Middle East.
Though it has launched its own digital telco, Circles Life, the Singapore-based startup helps operators launch and manage their own digital brands through its SaaS platform Circles X.
Since being established in 2014 by Rameez Ansar, Abhishek Gupta, and Adeel Najam, Circles has worked with partners such as Three, T-Mobile, XL Axiata, Singtel, and KDDI Corporation.
Last July, it was reported that Circles would go public through a merger with Bridgetown Holdings, the special purpose acquisition company backed by Peter Thiel and Richard Li.
