In brief: Tiger Global eyes B2B deals in India

  • New York-based hedge fund Tiger Global Management has made a return to Indian startups, betting more than US$125 million across four deals, Livemint reported.
  • The company this week has invested US$89 million in Ninjacart, a marketing and delivery platform for farm produce. It struck three deals since December 2018, investing a total of over US$36 million in business-to-business startups.
  • The Ninjacart deal is Tiger Global’s biggest first investment in an Indian startup.
  • The fund’s interest in India continues even after its former private equity chief, Lee Fixel, left in March. The business is now headed by Scott Shleifer, Tiger Global’s New York-based co-founder.
