Samsung backs Korean mental health platform’s $4.8m raise

Atommerce, the parent company of mental health platform Mind Cafe, has raised 6 billion won (US$4.8 million) in a bridge round from Lotte Healthcare and Samsung Venture Investment.

The latest raise pushes Atommerce’s total funding to about US$28.1 million, according to the company.

Founded in 2015 by Kyu-Tae Kim, Mind Cafe offers psychological counseling services via telephone and video. The platform said that it has about 1.5 million registered users.

The company operates in the B2G and B2B segments, with clients including the likes of Samsung, Naver, Hyundai, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Atommerce said it has about 190 companies using its employee mental health management program.

The service also recently launched in Japan, seeing about 100 consultations uploaded from its first venture outside South Korea.

Atommerce plans to use the fresh capital to expand its ecosystem and accelerate overseas expansion. Its next market could be North Korea, TechCrunch reported last February.
