We snuck Traveloka’s org chart from its HR department (just kidding)

Hello reader,
At Tech in Asia, we recently started using a new platform for our performance reviews. One of the features of this new platform is a thorough organizational chart, so it’s clear to see who reports to whom.
I felt a twinge of sympathy when I saw that a few of my colleagues have around nine direct reports each – that’s easily a couple of days’ worth of performance reviews to write, if not more.
Review season aside, org charts can be really useful to see who the main men and women are at a company, especially if it’s a giant like Traveloka. Today’s premium article takes a look at the who’s who of the Indonesian unicorn, and notes a few notable changes at the firm over the years.
Today we look at:
- The people who bring Traveloka to life
- GoTo’s latest acquisition
- Other newsy highlights such as Coinbase cutting 950 jobs and ByteDance’s Slack-like offering looking overseas after middling results in China

Traveloka’s movers and shakers

As of last December, my wife and I have been living together for a year now. While we’re not really thinking about kids yet, we did bring Baxter, a highly-intelligent and overly-mischievous mini dachshund, into our lives last September.
He’s as much a bundle of joy as he is trouble, but – at the risk of sounding like a typical pawrent – he’s our little baby boy and we love him very much.
If we drew up a family tree, it’d obviously be really concise (and frankly, unnecessary). On the other hand, Traveloka’s org chart can get complicated in a hurry. Here are some snippets from tracking the movements of the Indonesian firm’s top brass.
- Nothing lasts forever: The online travel agent was founded in 2012 by Ferry Unardi, Albert Zhang, and Derianto Kusuma. However, at the end of 2018, Kusuma – who was also the firm’s CTO – left due to a clash of visions amid the changing tech landscape.
- One line, one lead: Each business line has its own lead – Traveloka’s financial services are under Willy Sakareza’s and Doan Lingga’s leadership, while its transport vertical is helmed by Iko Putera.
- Moving on up: In March 2022, Shirley Lesmana, who served as vice president of brand strategy and marketing, was promoted to chief marketing officer.
