Sequoia leads $13m round of Australian instant grocery startup

Voly aims to disrupt the local grocery space, which is estimated to be worth over US$88 billion and dominated by offline retail. The startup wants to streamline the process of ordering groceries online by making it as “easy and engaging as browsing Instagram.”
It promises to deliver orders in 15 minutes or less. Voly also uses electric bikes and employs its own riders, delivery centers, and store staff.

The company was established earlier this year by ex-Uber executive Mark Heath and Thibault Henry, who previously co-founded Balto, a last-mile delivery service firm.
Voly plans to use the fresh capital to expand its operations and increase its headcount. The startup offers its services across 42 suburbs in Sydney and is looking to cover more areas in the near future.
