Sequoia Capital leads $15m series A round of Indian skincare startup
Minimalist, an India-based skincare startup, has raised US$15 million in its series A round led by Sequoia Capital India. The fundraise also saw participation from Unilever Ventures.
Launched in 2020, Minimalist says it’s popular among both women and men. Its products are available for purchase through its own website and ecommerce platforms, including Nykaa, Myntra, Flipkart, and Amazon.

To date, the company has served more than 1 million customers. It plans to use the freshly raised capital to further improve its infrastructure and research and development capabilities. Minimalist also has plans to launch its products outside India, but it didn’t specify which markets it would enter first.
“Minimalist’s products take an efficacy-first approach using transparency and science as underpinnings to improving personal care outcomes. This has resulted in a strong following and business momentum,” said Shailesh Lakhani, Sequoia India’s managing director, in a statement.
