Senior leadership change at MyChina Channel, a startup by former MediaCorp MD
MyChina Channel (MCC), a Singapore-based media startup that aggregates, produces and distributes China related content for the global market, has announced in a press release yesterday the appointment of new senior management.
Joining Melvin Ang, founder and executive director, is Wayne Chou, board member of the financial committee for the Media Development Authority in Singapore. Wayne has more than a decade of experience in corporate strategy, planning and businesses development, investment, as well as divestiture of businesses. He will be the new CEO.
Terry Mak, the new COO, was an independent consultant with broadcaster Astro Group. He has an expertise in international marketing, sales and distribution of television and film, garnered from his 20 years of experience at Celestial Pictures and TVBI.
The new hires are meant to bolster the company’s vision of launching its own premium linear and new media channels to reach an international audience.
“Despite the fact that quality of China originated content has come a long way in recent years, few media companies have managed to put them together in a way that can generate international awareness. MCC is keen to create a brand that can be well recognized globally,” said Terry Mak.
Before striking out to start his own company in June 2009, Melvin Ang was the managing director of MediaCorp, Singapore’s largest broadcaster, and the COO of SPHMediaWorks. The company now has a 15-strong staff and offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Shanghai, and Beijing.
