In brief: Alibaba delays $15b Hong Kong listing amid protests, sources say
- Chinese ecommerce titan Alibaba has delayed its up to US$15 billion Hong Kong listing due to a lack of financial and political stability in the financial hub, Reuters reports, citing two people familiar with the matter.
- The company’s decision was done amid more than 11 weeks of pro-democracy demonstrations in the city, according to the people.
- While Alibaba has not yet set a new timetable for the listing, which was originally scheduled for late August of this year, it could launch the deal as early as October 2019, said one source.
