Crypto.com and Line Xenesis – the crypto and blockchain arm of messaging app Line – are teaming up to develop crypto innovation across Asia Pacific and the global crypto industry. This also includes integrating Crypto.com’s tailored business solutions across Line’s network of 200 million monthly active users.
The partnership’s initial focus will be Line Xenesis’ crypto offerings in Japan, such as its licensed crypto exchange Line Bitmax. Ultimately, the two companies aim to explore NFT integrations and strengthen crypto payment capabilities.
“Enabling real-world utility is critical to our mission of mainstreaming crypto,” said Eric Anziani, president and COO at Crypto.com. “We will facilitate this utility by leveraging our respective expertise with a highly tech savvy base throughout the APAC region.”
As a recent Tech in Asia analysis shows, Japan is an early crypto regulator, and its government appears committed to push more legislation as the tech matures.
At a recent Web3 conference, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida hinted that a “large Japanese company” will launch a large-scale metaverse project. He also emphasized that his economic agenda supports further Web3 development.
The news comes a few months after Crypto.com secured a digital token license in Singapore. Line, meanwhile, had suspended its digibank project in Japan last March.
