Former Bing exec launches $30m early-stage fund

The VC firm aims to give US$250,000 to US$2 million for seed to series A startups across the world. It can also make larger investments by using capital from its limited partners.
Scale Asia Ventures was founded by Wally Wang, who was previously a program manager at Microsoft’s Bing and founding data scientist at global tech firm Pebble. He is also a former investment executive at Asian conglomerate Fosun.
Wang told Tech in Asia that his firm aims to help Asian B2B companies expand to Europe or North America, and global startups to enter Asian market.
“We’ve already seen world enterprise software leaders like Zoom, Atlassian, Canva, and Sendbird all born or have headquarters in Asia Pacific and expand into global brands. We want to help those founders from day one,” Wang said.
Besides its European and US portfolio firms, the company has two investments in Asia: South Korea-based Quotabook and Japan-based Genomelink.
