The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Hong Kong unicorn Animoca Brands, has acquired Uruguay-based Cualit for an undisclosed sum.
Following the acquisition, Cualit will be rebranded as The Sandbox Uruguay.

Founded in 2011 by Martin and Frederico Perez, Cualit’s services include game development, NFT design and development, blockchain and metaverse solutions, and more.
“The Sandbox Uruguay will add a technology-driven team to support the development of critical tools and infrastructure such as the dashboard, the marketplace, publishing tools, data analysis, and data flows that power The Sandbox platform,” Sebastien Borget, the company’s chief operating officer and co-founder, said in a statement.

After setting up a development office in Argentina, The Sandbox now has two such facilities in South America. The company also plans to leverage local Web3 talent and increase the number of its staff in the region from 90 to 150.
