Founded by Josh Williams in 2019, Forte helps game publishers integrate blockchain-based features into their titles. The platform allows games to offer embedded token wallets as well as non-fungible token minting and selling features to their users.
The company can also help game publishers in ensuring compliance related to money transmittal, anti-money laundering, tax management, and intellectual property protection for their titles.
Forte’s platform is still in private testing for selected partners. Currently, the company has over 40 game developer partners that serve 15 million players across their games.
In May, Forte raised US$185 million in a series A round that pushed the company’s valuation to US$1 billion. Griffin Gaming Partners led the round, with Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, Canaan, and Union Grove Venture Partners also participating.
