Rumor: is Final Fantasy VII already being remade for the PS4?

A post on NeoGAF confirming the existence of the Final Fantasy VII remake for Playstation 4 (PS4) started floating around this morning.

Made by an industry insider known as Verendus, who supposedly has very strong ties with the Japanese gaming industry, it said:

It’s happening. He’s [producer Yoshinori Kitase] obviously not going to give any indication as such though so it hardly matters until they’re ready to announce something. His comments make sense. It’s a huge project that will take a lot of effort, and demand a lot from him personally, in order to ensure the end result is something satisfactory.

There was also an accompanying picture: a mock-up done with Unreal engine, according to source website Kdramastars. The site added that Verendus has a “good track record” with information he receives.

Kdramastars added that the initial source (we can’t figure out what medium it’s on), Cyberland, said that the Final Fantasy VII remake for PS4 could be as early as 2015, and that the game would be revealed at E3 next year.

Obviously, with no official sources, this cannot be confirmed. But we’ve been waiting for so long, and we already have an open-world Zelda. Sure Square Enix wouldn’t deny its fans further?
