Do you have any questions for Rocket Internet at Startup Asia in Jakarta?

Earlier this year, Rocket Internet hit a new milestone. It raised $1 billion for its operations across the world. About $200 million of that is earmarked for Rocket Internet’s Southeast Asia conquest with its primary sites Lazada and Zalora. Rocket Internet only entered Asia in 2011, launching projects like FabFurnish.com in India and Zalora in the Philippines late in that year.
In the wake of Rocket’s rise, it has earned itself a reputation as being a cutthroat human resources machine, a huge marketing spender, a dirty SEO player, an execution juggernaut, and by far one of the most significant e-commerce conglomerates in the Asian region. This has, of course, made Rocket many enemies across local markets and always a reference point in discussions about e-commerce in Asia.
At Startup Asia Jakarta, I’ll be exploring some of Rocket’s keys to success. I’ll be interviewing Stefan Jung, managing director of Rocket Internet in Southeast Asia. Just to name a few questions, I’ll look into exploring:
- What makes the Samwer brothers, founders of Rocket Internet, tick?
- How big of a priority is Asia?
- How much money has been spent in Asia so far?
- What are some of the key numbers and wins that Rocket has made in Asia so far?
- How does Rocket choose when to shut down an internet property?
- What are Rocket’s biggest failures in Asia?
- Who are Rocket’s biggest competitors?
And more! If you’d like to ask any questions, please let us know by filling out our form here. And if you haven’t already, please grab a ticket over here. We’ll be seeing you on stage!
