Rising startups on Tech In Asia: self-learning, sneakers, and more

Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those we think investors should look at.

1. Jollychic (China)

Cross border e-commerce platform Jollychic raised US$65 million in a series C+ round funded by G42 Group. It will use the fresh funds to develop third-party payment options and improve its logistics system, among other plans. More info.

2. GoWork (India)

GoWork, a coworking startup, secured US$53 million in a debt financing round led by BlackRock. GoWork is reportedly scouting for potential acquisitions. More info.

3. LeapMotor (China)

LeapMotor, an electric vehicle maker, raised around US$51.2 million in a series A2 round from Jinhua Zhongche Fund. fu Liquan, the chairman of Dahua Technology, is now the largest shareholder of the startup. More info.

4. Carro (Singapore)

Wholesale automotive marketplace Carro secured an additional US$30 million on top of an earlier US$60 million in an extended series B round. The fresh funds helped the company acquire Jualo, an Indonesian consumer-to-consumer marketplace. More info.

5. Awfis (India)

Coworking startup Awfis secured US$30 million in a series D round led by IChrysCapital with participation from Sequoia Capital India and The Three Sisters Institutional Office. The company has raised US$81 million in total funding to date. More info.

6. CompareAsiaGroup (Hong Kong)

[CompareAsiaGroup[(http://www.compareasiagroup.com/), a personal finance platform operating across six markets, raised US$20 million in a series B1 funding round led by Experian. The deal also provides CompareAsia access to Experian’s cloud native platform. More info.

7. Cariuma (Singapore)

Cariuma, a direct-to-consumer sneaker brand, secured US$13 million in seed funding. It previously raised US$10 million. Both funding rounds were provided by angel investors from the fashion, media and banking industries. More info.

8. DocDoc (Singapore)

Medical portal DocDoc secured US$13 million of capital on a convertible note. The investment was led by Adamas Finance Asia Limited with participation from regional family offices, a fund managed by a financial services-focused investment firm, and Cyberport Macro Fund. The funds will go towards market expansion and improvement of its patient intelligence platform. More info.

9. Liquefy (Hong Kong)

Blockchain-agnostic issuance platform Liquefy raised US$2.6 million in a pre-series A round led by Ideanomics and NEO Global Development, with participation from Soul Capital, Kenetic, East Chain, and other investors. It is planning to expand to three more markets this year. More info.

10. AllSome Fulfillment (Malaysia)

AllSome Fulfillment, a provider of e-commerce fulfillment services, secured US$1.94 million in a seed round led by East Ventures. The fresh funds will help it with market expansion in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia. More info.

11. Wobb (Malaysia)

Job portal Wobb, received pre-series A investment of US$1.3 million from CAC Capital Investment Limited Partnership, Accord Ventures Inc., and Actcelerate International Group Ltd. With the fresh capital, the startup will accelerate its growth in Asia. More info.

12. Edmicro (Vietnam)

Edtech startup Edmicro, which offers a personalized self-learning platform called Onluyen, raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-series A funding round led by Insignia Ventures Partners. It aims to expand into other Southeast Asian markets by 2021. More info.

13. Fave (Singapore)

Fave, an online rewards platform for over 25,000 business locations across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, aims to be a super app for merchants. It currently offers payments, marketing support, analytics, and financial services to merchants. It’s raising a series C round. More info.

14. Helicap (Singapore)

Alternative lending platform Helicap has acquired Singaporean securities firm Arcor Capital for an undisclosed amount. The two companies aim to raise roughly US$181 million in capital from accredited investors. More info.
