Rising SE Asian startups this week: Hmlet, JobHop, and more

Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those that we think investors should look at.

1. Hmlet (Singapore)

Hmlet aims to address the need for affordable, high-quality living spaces in mobile urban populations. More info.

Amount raised: US$6.5 million series A
Investors: Led by Sequoia India

2. JobHop (Singapore)

JobHop is a recruitment matchmaker. Since its founding in 2016, the company’s matching algorithm with a built-in applicant tracking system has served over 500,000 jobseekers and 2,000 small to large enterprises hiring in Vietnam. More info.

Amount raised: US$710,000 seed
Investors: KK Fund and Mynavi Corporation

3. Structo (Singapore)

Structo makes and sells 3D printers and printing material – the “ink” of a 3D printer – to dental clinics and labs. More info.

4. Rate (Singapore)

Rate has two consumer-facing products. The first is RateX, a desktop browser extension that provides consumers with the best exchange rates for cross-border purchases and the latest discount codes for the top ecommerce platforms. The second is RateS, a mobile app for top online shopping deals from the likes of Amazon, Taobao, and Lazada. More info.

5. MobilityX (Singapore)

MobilityX is building a Netflix for all transportation options. More info.

6. OhMyHome (Singapore)

Ohmyhome is a one-stop solution for housing-related transactions, providing a full range of services that includes agent services, mortgage consultancy, and home staging. More info.

7. MindFi (Singapore)

MindFi is a research-backed meditation app. More info.

Amount raised: US$200,000 seed
Investors: Zopim founders Royston Tay and Kwok Yang Bin, as well as prominent Singapore-based angel investors Wong Poh Kam and Chow Yen Lu.

8. Awan Tunai (Indonesia)

Awan Tunai is a supply chain financing solution that helps banks provide financing to the Indonesian mass market. More info.

9. HitPay (Singapore)

HitPay enables one-tap payments for omnichannel businesses. More info.
