Hmlet, a Singapore-based co-living platform, has raised US$6.5 million in a series A round led by Sequoia India. The fresh capital will be used to scale its business model throughout Asia and to expand its services.

Last year, the startup closed a US$1.5 million seeding round led by Arum Investment.

Founded in 2016, Hmlet aims to address the need for affordable, high-quality living spaces in mobile urban populations. It is now operating in Singapore and Hong Kong, where it offers custom-designed rooms and apartments that come with housekeeping services, social activities, and professional workshops.

The company believes that young professionals are increasingly delaying home ownership and more mobile in their careers. Through the platform, the company is bringing the sharing economy concept to personal living spaces.

“Hmlet’s foundation was based on the insight that existing housing supply in large cities is not fit for the current millennial, mobile generation,” said CEO and co-founder Yoan Kamalski.
