Richard Branson Tweets: I’m Serving as AirAsia Flight Attendant

richard bransonOn May 1st, Richard Branson will be wearing a female flight attendant’s uniform aboard an AirAsia flight, all because he lost a bet.

Before the 2010 F1 season, Sir Richard (who owns Virgin Racing) had wagered rival Tony Fernandes of Team Lotus that whoever’s team finished with the lower point total would have to play flight attendant on the winner’s airline. Branson lost, so he’s now going to be passing out peanuts on AirAsia.

Whether this was actually a friendly bet between two rivals or an elaborately hatched social media campaign, we can’t say for sure. But given that AirAsia is one of the most competent airlines at navigating the interwebs, we suspect it could be the latter.

This particular flight will be party in the sky, with music and entertainment, and all seat sale profits going to charity, which is nice to see.
