Report: Gojek co-CEO Andre Soelistyo to head merger with Tokopedia
“Gojek co-chief executive officer Andre Soelistyo is set to head the Indonesian app giant to be created when the transport and delivery provider merges with ecommerce company Tokopedia,” Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Details:
- Gojek’s shareholders will have a 58% stake in Goto – the merged entity of Gojek and Tokopedia – while Tokopedia owners will take the rest.
- Patrick Cao and William Tanuwijaya will continue to lead Tokopedia as president and CEO, respectively. Meanwhile, Soelistyo will head the unit’s payments and financial services arm. His co-CEO Kevin Aluwi will remain to head Gojek.
Context:
- The US$18 billion merger between Gojek and Tokopedia is expected to be completed as early as this month.
- The development comes after Grab’s financial debut, which is set to kick off a spree of listings by Southeast Asian giants.
