Report: Singtel’s tech unit rebrands to B2B digital service provider
“The information and communications technology subsidiary (NCS), identified as a key growth engine for the (Singtel) group, has been recast as a pan-Asian business-to-business (B2B) digital services provider,” reported The Business Times.
Details:
- With its transformation, NCS aims to capture market share in the 5G space.
- It will have two main business segments: Gov+ targets governments and cities across the Asia Pacific, while Telco+ is a joint initiative with Singtel to develop 5G-enabled solutions with telcos.
Dive deeper:
- NCS wants to move away from being a traditional ICT service provider focused in Singapore by pivoting towards the region.
- This new brand identity comes after Singtel announced a “strategic reset” following a period where it shut down many of its new ventures. (Read: Why many of Singtel’s digital bets failed after a decade of trying)
- Last month, Singtel was weighing offers for the sale of HungryGoWhere’s assets after a closed bid was held. This follows the restaurant review portal’s announcement to close in July.
