Thailand has its own Bomberman game in Bombing Bastards, and it’s moving West

It’s been a while since the last Bomberman game was available, and it looks like Thailand’s Sanuk Games is stepping in to fill that gap with its latest game, Bombing Bastards.

A 3D, brightly-lit, Bomberman-style game, Bombing Bastards will be released on July 3 for the Wii U and Amazon Fire TV in the US.

While Asia won’t be getting the game just yet due to the platforms it’s on, managing director of Sanuk Games, Yan Marchal, tells us that Playstation 4 development of Bombing Bastards is currently under way, and that the game is also up for Greenlighting on Steam. According to Marchal, both PS4 and PC iterations of Bombing Bastards will be available for Asia.

Bombing Bastards includes five worlds with 30 mazes, a variety of creatures to blast to bits, five boss levels, a single-player campaign, as well as a fully-customizable local battle mode for two to five players.

What I find most intriguing is actually its title, which, unlike most games that look like it does, contains a very un-family-friendly word. We’re not prudes here, but you do wonder how a game that looks like it’s meant for cute family fun will do with the word “bastards” in its name.

I guess we’ll find out when we review it! If you have a US Wii U set, you can download the game once it launches on July 3.
