Grab Indonesia president steps down, appointed commissioner

Grab Indonesia president Ridzki Kramadibrata has stepped down from his post and was appointed as a commissioner effective July 1. With this move, the highest leadership position in Grab Indonesia is now held by country managing director Neneng Goenadi.

“In his new role, Ridzki will provide advice on business policies and governance of Grab Indonesia,” Goenadi said in a statement made in May.

Kramadibrata joined Grab Indonesia in January 2016, serving as country managing director before being promoted to president in January 2019. During his tenure, he helped Grab penetrate at least 100 cities in Indonesia.

Before Grab, he worked as the Indonesian COO and regional director of AirAsia and held leadership positions at Bakrie Telecom.

“The past 7.5 years have been incredible, and I’ve been fortunate to work with so many brilliant, intelligent, and young team members … I’ll always be Grab’s biggest fan. This time, however, I’ll support it from an outside view while keeping Grab close to my heart,” Kramadibrata announced on LinkedIn.

Recently, Grab laid off 1,000 employees or 11% of its total workforce. Though details regarding the number of affected employees in each country were not disclosed, the firm operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Grab also stated earlier this year that it is preparing to hit breakeven based on adjusted EBITDA. The decacorn, which has listed its shares on the Nasdaq, is optimistic that its operations – before interest, taxes, and depreciation expenses – will start to generate profits as early as the fourth quarter of 2023.
