After a quiet couple of weeks to close 2024 and start 2025, the funding total in today’s newsletter hits like an alarm clock blaring, bursting through the door to usher in the new year.

US$2.9 billion worth of funding was disbursed this past week, and I can only hope it’s a sign of what’s to come in the year ahead – more funding means more business, and I’ve had enough of this tech slump.

Let’s dive into the biggest deals and M&As that recently took place.


The biggest deals by country

🇸🇬 Digital Edge, a data center operator based in Singapore, has raised over US$1.6 billion through equity and debt financing. The participating investors were not publicly disclosed.

🇮🇳 Sterlite Power is an India-based developer of power transmission infrastructure. It has secured US$285.9 million in debt funding from India Infrastructure Finance Company and National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development.

🇨🇳 Positec, a Chinese marketing and manufacturing company, has locked up US$250 million in late-stage funding from CLSA Capital Partners, Lingang Frontier Investment, and NRL Capital, among others.

🇭🇰 Hong Kong-based Insilico Medicine develops high-performance AI platforms for drug discovery and aging research. It has closed a US$100 million series E round, with participation from Shanghai Pudong Investment Holding (Group) Co Ltd and Warburg Pincus.

🇯🇵 Regional Fish offers smart breeding and aquaculture services using genome editing technology, AI, and IoT. The Japanese firm has received US$25.3 million in series C funding from 7-Eleven Japan, CBC Group, and CITIC Capital, among others.
