15 Startups Awarded $4.85 Million Worth of Grants from SPRING Singapore

SPRING Singapore has today announced that 15 startups have received the proof-of-concept and proof-of-value grants under its SPRING Singapore’s Technology Enterprise Commercialization Scheme (TECS). The total value of the grants add up to S$6 million (US$4.85 million), encompassing a variety of startups in areas such as medical devices, electronics, engineering, and infocommunications. The 15 startups are:

1. Neurostyle

Through virtual reality games, Neurostyle aims to teach the brain to ‘rewire’ itself, which serves as a new methodology to help people recover movement in their limbs.

2. Hexalotus Technology

Liver cancer is one of the top ten cancers diagnosed in male Singaporeans. The Singapore-based company specializes in the development and provision of 3D modelling that will aid doctors in risk analysis and surgical planning. The web-based platform also helps facilitate consultation and provide assistance to surgeons.

3. T.Ware

T.Jacket, a product of T.Ware, simulates deep pressure massages, which calms children or patients suffering from autism, preventing them to going into uncontrollable fits. The patient can wear the T.Jacket anywhere and be controlled using the T.Jacket smartphone app, making it easy for parents and therapists to activate and control the jacket discreetly and remotely. The pressure levels can also be customized and varied according to individual preferences.

4. Envichem

Founded in 2012, Envichem Technologies Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based environmental engineering firm, which provides sustainable environmental technologies for heavy industries.

5. Water Optics Technology

This startup aims to offer real-time monitoring of water quality using its ‘parasitometer’, where you can detect germs and bacteria within 24 hours, instead of taking several days to find out the levels.

6. Zimplistic

The Singapore-based startup is developing the world’s first fully-automatic flatbread maker, the Rotimatic. Families who eat flatbread as a staple food can now make them easily at home, which was once a process where skilled hands and intensive labour were both required. Rotimatic also has a sensing system where it can adapt to different flour types which have different water absorption characteristics and capacities.

7. RecordTV

RecordTV caters to an audience in Singapore, and positions itself as a smart content compression technology that allows users to start playing partially recorded live content, as opposed to digital video recordings that requires content to be fully recorded first.

8. GridComm

GridComm is a self-configuring software which can identify and adapt to changes in power lines to help optimise energy consumption.

9. Eyeota

Eyeota is an international marketplace for anonymous web audience data. It helps publishers to build and segmentize audience data, then monetizes it via the Eyeota data marketplace. It aids owners in maximizing audience data revenue, find the audience they want, and maximize campaign results.

10. DynaOptics

With DynaOptics, you can now say goodbye to ugly digitally zoomed-in photographs. It aims to develop a miniature optical zoom lens for mobile phone cameras to allow optical zoom to be achieved through minute, lateral movements. With its compact size, it makes it appealing for use with mobile phones.

11. Membrane Instruments

Also a Singapore-based company, Membrane Instruments is a membrane process optimization company. It offers value-added advisory services and implements a whole suite of proprietary sensing, computing, and actuating system in membrane plants.
