InMobi, a leading independent mobile ad network, has announced on August 3 the acquisition of Sprout, a platform that simplifies the creation of HTML5 mobile ads, for an undisclosed sum. The US-based Sprout has served clients such as Chevrolet, Disney, Paramount Pictures, Nokia, HTC, and Sega.
With offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Bangalore, San Francisco, London, and Nairobi, InMobi claims a reach of 314 million consumers in over 165 countries, and more than 36.2 million mobile ad impressions monthly.

The acquisition fits perfectly with our vision to enable the mobile ecosystem with best of breed technology and services. The entire industry will benefit from the combination of our technology and operational footprint on five continents and Sprout’s platform,” says Naveen Tewari, CEO of InMobi.
Previously, it has raised US$8 million in Series B funding from existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and Sherpalo Ventures (also check out this podcast featuring Emmanuel Allix from InMobi).
