Hello reader,
For some startups, going for an IPO is an end goal. For others, an acquisition is a more viable and desirable exit strategy.
PropertyGuru is one of the few companies that have gone through both.
The proptech firm made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange in 2022. Around two and a half years later, PropertyGuru was acquired by US private equity firm EQT Private Capital Asia – a move that saw the Singapore-based company delisted from the American bourse.
The acquisition came with significant operational shifts, including layoffs and business closures. But these tough decisions have generated results for the company.
Now, the question is whether PropertyGuru can maintain its momentum.
Meanwhile, Israeli data-scraping firm Bright Data has fended off lawsuits from both Meta and X, but now faces a new threat: Cloudflare’s ‘pay-per-scrape’ policy. My colleague Scott Shuey unpacks the escalating battle over data control in the AI age, and Bright Data’s role at the heart of it.
In today’s tech landscape, the shake-ups are just beginning.
