Podcast – Why entrepreneurs are more likely to find their purpose in life

The Japanese word ikigai may be short, but it packs a whole lot of meaning into a few syllables.

Defined simply, it means something that gives a person a sense of purpose in their life. In its first episode, The Science of Work dove into finding your own ikigai through a stimulating conversation between host Juliana Chan and her guest, Goh Wei Choon.

Choon is the co-founder of The Woke Salaryman, an online media company that produces funny and at times haunting cartoons you are bound to have seen on LinkedIn. Chan chatted with Choon about ikigai and his work.

Here are five highlights we picked out from the episode:

5:22 – How the four elements of ikigai work together

18:14 – Why entrepreneurs are more likely to find their ikigai than most people

28:54 – Why finding your ikigai actually makes life a little bit harder, but that’s a good thing

34:00 – Why there’s more risk involved when you actively choose to seek your ikigai

44:34 – Choon takes a version of the Ikigai-9 psychometric test
