Indonesian LBS t4nya.com Wants You to Find, Share, Discuss Places

t4nya.com

When we’re visiting someplace new, we’re often not quite sure where we’re going. Now with t4nya.com, people can find wherever they’re looking for and share any location’s information with users across Indonesia.

t4nya.com (pronounced ‘Tempatnya’ meaning ‘The Place’) is a location-based network (LBS) and social media service made in Indonesia. Just by logging in with their Facebook ID, people can use this site to find or share information about interesting and useful places in any city around the world, using a Google Maps-based system. From hotels to small hawker food stalls, parks to museums, everything can be found and shared in t4nya. Just like other social media platforms, users can discuss, share photos, or post to other platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. It’s somewhat similar to Koprol and Foursquare, but t4nya.com is more about social interaction than gaming or check-ins.

Yonathan Utomo, the founder and project manager of t4nya.com, explained to Penn Olson:

The information will be given by people who know a lot about or love the places; and the people who seek the information about the places can ask freely about them from the sharer. We also want to give a chance to people who love sharing interesting places to express their hobbies. We hope there will be lots of interactions between the users.

t4nya.com is also integrated with two local sites – tagtung.com for tourism information and carialamat.com for business addresses in Indonesia, which makes it easier for business owners to promote their locations.

This local LBS was built by a team of four from Yogyakarta: Yonathan Utomo (the project manager), Andhri Hermawan, Widy Agung Priasmoro, and Waskito Adi. They first met in a cross-profession discussion forum called PPP on Facebook. Based on their experiences, they decided to build this info-oriented location network. The website is still in beta, and they plan to develop it on mobile platforms like Android and iOS as well.

As one of the many start-ups in Indonesia, t4nya.com has good prospects. There are a lot of interesting places in Indonesia waiting to be explored, especially for local tourists. And there are many interesting places in the world that Indonesians need to know. This is one to keep an eye on.
