DJI brings drones to Seoul with first store outside China

Three months after Chinese drone startup DJI opened its first ever store in its home city of Shenzhen, the fast-growing firm is set to throw open the doors on its first store overseas.

The newest DJI shop is in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, opens tomorrow, Saturday, at 10 am local time. It’s only DJI’s second store.

Just like in Shenzhen, the Seoul DJI store has a caged-in area dedicated to drone flight demos.

The quirky corner store, which covers five storeys, is in the increasingly hip and artsy Hongdae area of Seoul, with Hongik University nearby.

For the opening day, DJI will put on some festivities, such as flight cages in nearby parks where people can see the camera-carrying drones in action.

DJI calls its showcase area the “Hall of Inspire,” where shoppers can see “aerial footage and content from creators around the world.”

Aside from all that, the main point is of course to shift units, so every drone and other DJI products will be on show and up for sale.
