Peak XV, Jungle Ventures invest $2.1m in SG brain healthtech firm

“The brain is a complex organ, and also the least understood,” Pang Sze Yunn, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based healthtech platform Neurowyzr, told Tech in Asia.

According to Pang, early brain decline can take between 20 and 40 years before obvious conditions such as dementia, mental health diseases, or stroke occur.

“By then, therapies have little impact,” she added. “Traditional brain tests are inefficient, expensive and inaccessible.”

Founded in 2019 by Pang and its chief digital neuroscientist Nav Vij, Neurowyzr wants to address this gap by offering a cloud-based SaaS platform that analyzes brain function and provides instant medical reports using a series of gamified puzzles.

The company has raised an additional US$2.1 million in its seed round, which was jointly led by Jungle Ventures and Peak XV’s Surge. Neurowyzr has raised US$3.3 million in funding to date.

The fresh funds will be used to bolster the healthtech firm’s product development and expand across Southeast Asia and India. Eventually, it is aiming to scale operations across Asia and the US.

Currently, Neurowyzr offers two products: a digital medical assessment to screen for early brain decline called Digital Brain Function Screen (DBFS) as well as a business solution called Attayn Corporate.

DBFS is designed for primary care settings such as health screening centers and general practitioner clinics. Needing no neurospecialists or dedicated equipment, it incurs costs up to 10x lower than pen-and-paper tests that mandate trained personnel and potentially costly MRI/CT scans exceeding S$8,000 (US$5,891).

Meanwhile, Attayn Corporate helps employees develop targeted personal growth plans to improve or maintain their brain health and performance. It also provides companies with anonymized data to design training and wellness programs.

Some of Neurowyzr’s clients include United Overseas Bank, Parkway Shenton, SATA CommHealth, Farrer Park Hospital, MHC Medical Centre (Amara) and O’Joy.
