John Marco Rasjid is stepping down as CEO of Sociolla, the Indonesia-based beauty ecommerce firm.
Christopher Madiam, Sociolla’s co-founder and president, will be taking over as CEO, the company said on Monday.
Rasjid will transition to a new role as a special advisor to the company’s board.
In 2015, Madiam and Rasjid launched Sociolla alongside Chrisanti Indiana, who continues to lead the company’s marketing and creative brand strategy as its chief marketing officer.
It has been “a remarkable journey of learning a new industry from zero,” said Rasjid, whose past experiences include roles in banking, marketing, and insurance.
Sociolla, a major beauty marketplace in Indonesia, uses an omnichannel strategy. Currently, it has 50 physical stores across 30 cities in the country, housing hundreds of local and international brands.
In 2020, the company entered Vietnam, its first overseas market. It also helped local direct-to-consumer brands Esqa, Avoskin, and Carasun expand regionally.
