Come hear how Khailee Ng built and exited two startups at breakneck speed

Khailee Ng, managing partner at 500 Startups in Southeast Asia
If you’ve been in Southeast Asia’s startup scene for a little while already, you may remember when Groupon invaded Malaysia in 2011 by acquiring the five-month-old GroupsMore daily deals site. It might sound like Groupon was jumping the gun, but in fact its strategy was sound. After three months of operations, GroupsMore had already become one of the top group buying sites in the nation, and Groupon was able to get an early foothold in the growing market by aligning itself with the fast-moving startup.
Fast forward to 2013. Says.com is a three-year-old thriving community where social media users curate and share trending news. Says users also provide pay-for-performance social media content to advertisers. In May the same year, the company agreed to a US$20 million merger with the Malaysian media giant Catch Media, which has since rebranded as REV Asia Berhad.
What do these two companies have in common?
Both GroupsMore and Says were co-founded by the same guy, Khailee Ng. Today, Ng is the managing partner of 500 Startups in Southeast Asia. Ng has a reputation for building and exiting successful companies at dizzying speeds, having started his journey in tech entrepreneurship at the age of 15.
Ng was an angel investor before joining 500 Startups, having put his own money into a variety tech ventures such as App.io, Privy, CompStak, SupplyHog, Noonswoon, and iMoney.
Ng says his time building and exiting GroupsMore and Says was a wild and pivotal period in his life. During our Tech in Asia Singapore 2015 on May 6 and 7, Khailee Ng will take the main stage to share his story of building competitive companies before the age of 30. Ng’s tales of business growth and early success are not to be missed.
