Remember how hot and trending Paranormal Activity was last October? Now, it’s back again and this time round, the movie doesn’t require users’ help to get it on Twitter’s trending list. Instead, it has conveniently purchased a promoted trending spot.
If you haven’t heard about it, Paranormal Activity is a $15k low budget horror film screened last October. After releasing it at 33 theaters in the U.S last year (and enjoyed initial success), Paramount Picture demanded movie lovers to rally and raise 1 million votes at eventful.com before casting the movie worldwide. The gimmick worked and created a huge rave across the world.
To date, it’s probably one of the more successful movies marketed through social media.

The question remains. Can it maintain the hype it inherited from last year? I’m sure the marketing team behind Paranormal Activity 2 is under immerse pressure to replicate a similar success.
