TackThis Now in Open Beta, Makes Social Commerce Stores Embeddable By Anyone

tackthisSingapore-based start-up TackThis is a platform that allows anyone to create an e-commerce store and embed it on their Facebook pages, blogs or any website. I like the concept and thought that the team has made a solid product that helps non-techies to get the job done. I learned that TackThis is now in open beta. Yes, everyone is now invited to use its service, and it’s free for basic account.

Damian Chow, co-founder at TackThis, gave me a run through of his creation. The backend of the product looks very intuitive — providing a step-by-step process to creating a social commerce store. At the final step, you will be given four embed code options for various platforms, and you can choose one to embed your stores on the web.

What’s interesting is that TackThis has an option for store owners to allow other any visitors to embed their stores. It’s similar to YouTube videos embedding feature, but applied onto online shops.

Using this feature, store owners can easily come up with their own affiliate incentives system. And Damian told me that his team is now working on developing an automated affiliates system to help store owners manage affiliate programs easily. For now, an affiliate system has to be set up manually.

I did point out to Damian that Livejournal is dearly missing in his embed code system. As we last wrote, Livejournal is one of the most important platforms for blogshop owners in Singapore, with a whopping 500,000 registered users who generate over 30 million pages views per month. But with Livejournal.sg — run by Tickled Media — setting its e-commerce ambitions in Singapore, I can certainly see a major collaboration between the two parties.

TackThis will be focusing on building traction in the Southeast Asia region, particularly in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
