- Around 10,000 bicycles from Ofo and oBike, two bike-sharing companies that failed in Singapore, will be given as gifts for students in Myanmar, The Straits Times reported.
- Nonprofit Lesswalk bought the bikes last April from third parties like warehouse operators that were left holding the unused vehicles and plans to release them by the end of June.
- The estimated cost of buying, shipping, and refurbishing the bicycles landed at around US$350,000 to US$400,000.
- Half of the cost is expected to be paid by sponsors of the initiative, with the rest coming from Lesswalk.
