We are Brendan Goh & Roger Chang, Co-Founders of Pirate3D. AMA!

Yo hoho TIA!
We are Brendan Goh and Roger Chang, Co-Founders of Pirate 3D. Pirate 3D builds consumer 3D printers. We founded Pirate3D when we graduated from college.
A lot of people ask us about why we decided on the name. We were sitting for lunch one day at some polytechnic and we were raising funds. We needed to come up with a name to incorporate a company so that we could get the funding in. Brendan said spontaneously, “let’s be pirates!” Perhaps it was because we had just watched Pirates of Silicon Valley. But from there, we started out at Brendan’s dad’s office, a room just 2m by 2m where the team cramped in for months. And the rest is history.
More about us:
Brendan
I am an engineer who likes business! I run everything day-to-day at Pirate 3D. I usually like cooking or running various other businesses in my spare time. I coffee/food hunt frequently, enjoying the nicer things in life. Do note that nicer things in life does not equate to more expensive things, more often than not, I find myself sitting by the roadside enjoying a coffee made by some old fella.
Roger
I am a business guy who likes engineering! I work on special projects like special meets with people and/or tying up with other companies. I frequently travel to India and the surround areas to explore the land and seek out spirituality, and come back with some great ideas. In my spare time, i’m usually building one new thing or another.
It’s been one hell of a ride and we are happy to answer any questions that you have. Seriously anything, so don’t mince words, the sky is the limit! This is the one chance for you to leverage off what we’ve been through.
Fair winds! Ask away!
Note from Daniel, TIA’s community manager:
The host may choose at their preference to not answer particular questions. The AMA is moderated by the community managers, so let’s keep the questions friendly. 🙂
