It’s Official: 3D Printer ‘The Buccaneer’ Raises Over $1 Million on Kickstarter

3D printer startup Pirate3D has had quite a ride so far on Kickstarter. With $300,000 raised after day one on the crowdfunding site, the Singapore-based company moved on to aim for $1 million. The folks did it again with more milestone set in their last seven days on Kickstarter.

With $1 million in the bag, Pirate3D promises that its 3D printer, The Buccaneer, will now support ABS material. The full update from the company is posted below. If you’re a fan of innovation and startups in Asia, consider giving part of your pocket money to back the team at Pirate3D.

As promised, we’re delivering on our $1,000,000 stretch goal of official ABS support! Buccaneers can now use ABS material, with ABS settings included in the default.

We structured our stretch goals to stack, each adding more value to the last goal. As such, our next goals will add to the ABS support and the Buccaneer’s performance in general:

$1,150,000 – All metal hotend for better high temperature printing

$1,300,000 – A new heated bed, made of a material that spreads the heat more evenly and requires absolutely no tape or messy glue. Oh and we promise transparency in this development.

We have more awesome goals lined up beyond this, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves!
