The world is obsessed with Facebook and that includes Asia. 143 million out of 825 million Internet users in Asia are Facebook users. That is 1 Facebook users out of every 6 Asian Internet users.
The Facebook madness in Asia is pretty obvious. In Singapore, Facebook is almost everywhere – on mobile, tablets or laptops.
We recently reported about a dedicated Vietnam-based blog which authors on all Facebook related content in Vietnamese. What’s interesting is that Facebook isn’t the most popular social-networking site in Vietnam. Zing Me is, and it is twice as huge as Facebook.
Despite the ban, Facebook is also experiencing strong growth in China. Mark Zuckerberg’s visit to China last year had caused a huge wave of buzz within the Chinese tech community.
Indonesia is the second largest Facebook nation with 33 million users, only falling behind the U.S. Countries like India, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and Pakistan are experiencing double digit user growth rate.
Wow… As I write, I can’t help but feel proud to be an Asian. It feels good to blog about Asia’s booming growth. This time, we fuel growth for U.S companies. In the future, I’m pretty sure Asia will one day have her own version of “Mark Zuckerberg” and “Steve Jobs’, building products that the world ‘likes’.
