google buzzWithin 24 hours of the launch of Google Buzz, Microsoft and Yahoo both gave Google a slap on the face. Here’s Microsoft’s blatant statement in response to this service.

“Busy people don’t want another social network, what they want is the convenience of aggregation. We’ve done that. Hotmail customers have benefited from Microsoft working with Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and 75 other partners since 2008.”

Yahoo did it through a tweet stating that the idea was implemented two years ago. Too little too late? Nonetheless, the big Google reputation surely gives users some sort of confidence.

Will it actually work? It depends on the possible future upgrades that Google Buzz could provide. At its current state, I don’t see it as an innovation. It simply doesn’t provide additional value. For most, I believe Twitter or even FriendFeed is preferred over Google Buzz.

Google is a company that struggles with social network; the failure of Orkut is a good example. But on a fair note, Blogger and YouTube are both doing fairly well, despite the absence of revenue stream. It’s unfair to write off Google Buzz just a day after its launch. Be patient and hope Google would work its magic.

Or perhaps we’re getting impatient towards new social sites that require us to build our network from scratch.
