Money Kingdom, an NFT project based in Hong Kong, was hit with a major security breach that saw a hacker steal cryptocurrencies worth nearly US$1.3 million, South China Morning Post reported.
The hacker had gained access to an admin account of the project’s group chat on messaging app Discord and posted a phishing link.
Following the hack, Monkey Kingdom’s developers have put together a fund to compensate affected users. They also promised to enhance security measures to avoid such data breaches in the future.
Launched in November, Monkey Kingdom is a Solana-based project that features more than 2,000 digital portraits of Monkey King, a Chinese mythical character. The project has become quite popular, with celebrities like Steve Aoki, JJ Lin, and Ian Chan endorsing it.
