Xpeng has announced plans to mass-produce humanoid robots and flying cars for consumers by the end of 2026. The Guangzhou-based company shared this update during a video briefing, emphasizing its ambitions in robotics and AI.

Vice-chairman Brian Gu said that the robotics industry could surpass the automotive sector in scale and importance in the coming years, though it may take around five years for humanoid robots to become common in households.

Initially, Xpeng will deploy its robots in commercial settings like factories and retail outlets, where it already uses them in car manufacturing.

This announcement follows the unveiling of Xpeng’s humanoid robot, Iron, in November 2024, shortly after Tesla introduced Optimus.
