TSMC to suspend advanced AI chips for China from November 11
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is halting the production of advanced AI chips for Chinese chip design firms.
This suspension, first reported by the Financial Times, begins Monday and affects chips manufactured at nodes of seven nanometers or smaller.
Future shipments of these semiconductors may require approval, potentially involving the United States government.
When asked for comment, TSMC confirmed its commitment to adhering to relevant rules and regulations, including export restrictions.
The United States Department of Commerce has not yet released a statement on the matter.
