Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has struggled to recruit local talent for its Arizona chip factory while dealing with labor unions’ resistance to hiring workers from Taiwan. These issues are pushing TSMC toward Japan, where its US$8.6 billion manufacturing facility is set to start production in 2024, according to industry sources.
