TSMC commits $100b to US expansion
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has announced a US$100 billion expansion of its operations in the US to enhance semiconductor production.
The announcement was made earlier in March during an event attended by TSMC CEO C.C. Wei.
This investment reflects a growing trend among Taiwanese companies to increase their presence in the US.
Foxconn Technology Group, a major supplier for Apple and Nvidia, is working with Apple to establish an AI server assembly site in Texas. Smaller firms like Wiwynn Corp., Quanta Computer Inc., and Compal Electronics Inc. are also investing significantly in US facilities.
