Chinese ecommerce platform Temu is shifting its attention to products stored in United States warehouses due to recent changes in tariff policy.

The US government has removed the de minimis tax exemption, which previously allowed duty-free imports for goods valued under US$800.

This change affects platforms like Temu and Shein, which benefited from importing low-value goods without taxes.

With the removal of this exemption, Temu is highlighting products marked with a “local” badge, indicating they are stored in US warehouses, enabling faster delivery and reduced reliance on shipments from China.
