Taiwan exceeds $21b in overseas investments, led by TSMC
Taiwan’s direct overseas investments reached a record US$21.05 billion in 2024.
This growth was driven by global expansion efforts from major manufacturers, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), according to the central bank.
The net increase in overseas investments by Taiwanese residents also set a new record at US$31.98 billion.
Chen Fei-wen, deputy director of the central bank’s Department of Economic Research, said that TSMC’s production expansions in the United States and Japan contributed to this rise.
