Perplexity AI, an AI research company founded in 2022, has proposed a vision to restructure TikTok’s algorithm and infrastructure under US oversight.

The plan aims to enhance transparency and user experience by leveraging Perplexity’s AI capabilities, powered by Nvidia Dynamo technology.

This would improve TikTok’s recommendation system, ensuring scalability and faster inference speeds while hosting a transparent “For You” feed algorithm in American data centers to comply with US privacy regulations.

Perplexity also plans to integrate citation and context-driven features into TikTok, allowing users to verify information in real-time with AI and community feedback.

Additionally, the company proposes merging its answer engine with TikTok’s video library to enhance search functionality, providing cited, in-depth answers and contextual insights.

This approach shifts TikTok’s focus from engagement metrics to informational value, making the platform more useful for a global audience.
