Microsoft has opened its first research and development center in Japan, focusing on robotics and AI integration.

The facility, called Microsoft Research Asia Tokyo, is part of the company’s strategy to expand its global technology labs.

It will work on embodied AI, targeting manufacturing and healthcare industries.

Collaborations are planned with Japanese corporations and universities.

Microsoft joins other US tech companies like Oracle and Amazon Web Services in increasing R&D investments in Japan.
