Japan's Metaplanet buys $12.6m worth of bitcoin

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has purchased an additional 150 bitcoin, valued at approximately US$12.6 million.

This acquisition was made at an average price of US$83,801 per bitcoin, increasing the company’s total holdings to 3,350 BTC.

The acquisition follows the appointment of Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, to the firm’s Strategic Board of Advisors.

Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich said that the company’s bitcoin investments, totaling around US$278.8 million, are currently valued at approximately US$291.3 million based on market rates.
