Indonesia’s iPhone 16 ban prompts Apple’s $100m investment
Apple Inc. plans to invest around US$100 million in Indonesia over two years, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
This follows a government ban on selling its iPhone 16 model in the country.
Originally, Apple aimed to invest approximately US$10 million in accessory and component production in Bandung, Indonesia.
The increase in investment follows Indonesia’s industry ministry’s demand for a focus on smartphone research and development locally.
